Others    Quality checks to be made on all hospitals ()

(14-11-2008) The Ministry of Health plans an inspection of all hospitals in the country to determine the quality of facilities and medical treatment.

Luong Ngoc Khue, deputy director of the ministry’s Department for Management of Medical Check-up and Treatment, said traditional medicine hospitals would be inspected by the ministry’s traditional medicine department.

Provincial and municipal health departments will be responsible for inspecting local public hospitals, non-State hospitals and medical university hospitals.

Ministries and national branches will inspect State-owned hospitals.

The ministry has formed five inspection teams, headed by officials from the Health Examination and Treatment Management Department, to inspect from two to 10 hospitals each, depending on the area.

This year, inspection teams will focus on hospitals’ implementation of the so-called Project 1816, which shifts experienced doctors from high-level to lower-level hospitals ito improve quality and reduce patient overload.
