Viet Nam and Cambodia have agreed to further promote the achievements recorded in healthcare co-operation between the two countries.
The agreement was made yesterday at a meeting between Minister of Health Nguyen Quoc begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting Trieu, who is visiting to Cambodia from August 1 to 6, and Cambodia's Ministry of Health.
The Cambodian representatives lauded Viet Nam's health centres in border provinces for carrying out health checks and medical treatment for Cambodian people.
At the meeting, the two sides also agreed to organise seminars to share experiences in health checks and disease treatment and to facilitate a project to open the Cho Ray – Phnom Penh hospital in Phnom Penh. The establishment of an eye hospital in the city was also under consideration.
The two sides wanted to foster co-operation in infectious disease and epidemic control. The strengthening of joint work in preventing the smuggling of fake cosmetics at border gates between the two countries, quality controls over medicine and fighting against counterfeit pharmaceuticals were also touched on in discussions.
